Within each box lies a true patriot. They see their fellow soldiers fall in battle and they continue to fight asking no questions. Even though most of them know that this battle is not what they want to fight for, but for America they strive on. I salute all of them.

I won't be happy until the retarded cheerleader who is our so-called President gets one of those for himself. He should share in the fun the people in these flag-draped boxes got to have. Disgusting. It's the only word for the Bush Presidency, unless you want to add "criminal".

Frustrates me how this is seemingly going to continue with Iran around the corner. Soldiers that don't return draped with the flag, come back either physically wounded and/or continue on the rest of their lives with the horrors and scars of war. Why does anyone have to go through this?

Iran was a democracy, ruled by a leader that was elected by its people. Until that is, the CIA overthrew him and put in place the Shah, who ruled Iran with an iron fist. Just say NO to war with Iran. We f*cked them once, isn'that enough!!

I am so sick of people glorifying soldiers, as if they have provided some great sacrifice to our country.

This is false. War is not glorious, and nobody should be glorified for having joined a war of their own free will.

I know this is something that will make many people angry, but it must be said and it must be in the clear. There has not been a war in the last 100 years that has threatened our "Freedom." Not a single soldier since the Civil war has fought for any "freedoms" at all, in fact. Not once was our land threatened (except Pearl Harbor, which is a unique situation... one which we answered in the most evil way possible.) and not once were our cities invaded or bombed.

So what is this GREAT SACRIFICE? Why should I be honoring these people who went to Iraq voluntarily, perhaps for the chance to maim and/or murder? They are not fighting for a single thing I believe in. They are fighting a war for businessmen and politicians, for oil and for revenge, for hate and ignorance.

All of this, and still I am forced to help pay for it.

Can someone tell me what honor these soldiers earned? Is there a reason I should support these murderers and war-mongers? Isn't it time to take an objective look at the rhetoric you've been spewing your whole life?

I'm sorry Jeremy but you're wrong about the soldiers. The soldiers who have died, who have been maimed for life, have done their duty to their country! If you want to lay blame then please keep it squarely on the shoulders of the government and the leaders who give them their damn orders.

No soldiers signed up to the military to have "glory in Iraq". They signed up to defend their damn country and it's NOT their fault that they've been sent to fight in this quagmire that is Iraq. Do you actually think the soldiers SUPPORT the war? Of course not! Look at the bitterness throughout the military. Yet, they continue to serve, to be horribly injured, and to die - why? Because they are doing their DUTY AS SOLIDERS! Please understand that before you go around spouting this nonsense. And that is the terrible sacrifice they pay, and why we who are not fighting should at least stand up for them. It's the least we can do from the comfort of our homes.

That's the problem, Thomas (July 15, 2008 at 12:23 p.m.). They do it without asking.

Jeremy it hurts to see someone so ignorant trash talk the men and women that volunteer themselves to be put in harms way in the defense of America. Soldiers themselves volunteer to fight in a military whose purpose is to defend this country, it is not their fault that corrupt politicians and businessmen have hijacked the system in which they serve. You spew your hateful rhetoric against service people because you disagree with the war in which they fight, but if they were really, truly needed to defend our country, your home, against an invading enemy I feel that your tone might be different. Blame the true criminals, BushCo, the corrupt congress, and all of government, not the soldiers.

Also, I'm pretty sure World War II, particularly the European front, was fought against the very antithesis of freedom. You would be hard pressed to argue otherwise.
